Who We Are

Jesus was once asked, “What is the great commandment”? The answer He gave is incredible. He said the most important thing for us to do is to Love God with all of our heart, soul, strength, and mind. He then added that we are to love other people as much as we love ourselves. That means life is about relationships- both with God and others.

At First Baptist Church we believe that the Bible tells us with both clarity and authority how to accomplish what Jesus requires of us. It also tells us that we are to gather together in order to “Spur each other on to love and good works”. We meet as a church to learn, worship, and develop relationships that will help us bring glory to God.

At First Baptist we believe the greatest effort should be given to obeying the Great Commands. Therefore we strive to love God above all else. This is reflected in our lives by learning from His word, obeying what we learn, and encouraging others to do the same. We strive to love others by showing preference to one another and speaking the truth in love.

Another way we love God and others is by following the Great Commission given to us by Jesus Christ. Church is not just a building or an event on Sundays. The church has been given the privilege of sharing with the entire world the good news that forgiveness and new life are possible with God because of what Jesus has done. We desire to follow Christ and lead others to do the same.

Finally, we are focused on the Great Conclusion. Because Jesus Christ has promised to return, we need to live pure lives in anticipation of this marvelous event. Eternity is of far greater significance than the few years we have here on Earth. “We must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ. Therefore we make it our aim to please Him”.
